If you are a California credential candidate, you will most likely have to take the CSET, CBEST and/or RICA before receiving certification, and in many cases, some of these tests are even required before you can begin student teaching.  If you need help, a great option to consider is Teachers Test Prep, Inc.

Teachers Test Prep offers prep classes, private tutoring and online preparation for the CSET Multiple Subjects exam (required for most elementary school teachers), and CSET Single Subject Math, Science, Social Science, and English (required for most secondary school teachers), CBEST (the California Basic Educational Skills Test) and the RICA (Reading Instruction Competence Assessment).

At Teachers Test Prep, you can find free online study guides and practice tests for all the aforementioned exams.  The CSET Multiple Subjects Practice Test is made up of three subtests.  The CBEST Practice Test is comprised of reading, writing, and mathematics sections.  The RICA Practice Test is a single exam , which includes a number of constructed responses and a case study.  The CSET Mathematics Practice Test is made up of three subtests.  The   is comprised of the two general science subtests.  The CSET Social Science Practice Test is made up of three subtests.  And the CSET English Practice Test is comprised of four subtests: two multiple choice and two written response.

Hopefully you will find these practice tests helpful as you prepare for your exam(s).

Well, I've moved my teaching blog, at least temporarily, to Wordpress.  Forgive the duplicate content, but I'll be continuing to post articles about teaching in California, passing the CSET, etc. at the new site.  Come visit!

This test is tough!  Here's my advice for those of you preparing for the CSET Multiple Subjects Exam:

First of all, you should visit NES Inc.'s website, which has free practice tests you can download.  While you're there, you should also download the Content Specifications which can help you figure out what topics to concentrate on when you're studying.

CSETTutor.com is another useful site to check out if you're taking the CSET and looking for more information and free CSET Practice Tests.  The site also has some really helpful reviews on CSET study guides, and they offer CSET prep classes and private tutoring if you need it.

I'd also recommend checking out Cliff's CSET study guide.  It's  definitely one of the better guides out there and you can get it for about $16 on Amazon.com-- well worth the price.  Has several practice tests and good content review sections.

Hope you all find this info useful, and definitely let me know if you discover any other resources that you think I should add to the list!
